…Sooner or Later. The Beltline’s Eastside Trail has had a transformative effect on the neighborhoods surrounding it. And now, it looks like The Westside Trail will have a similar effect on the other side, but what about the in-between? Up until this week, plans had not yet been put into place to connect the Eastside and Westside, hindering the project’s overall vision of connecting the entire city. Now, however, it looks like you will be able to get from east to west on foot in the city, albeit in the somewhat distant future. The Beltline has sent out an RFQ (request for qualifications) to designers that will get the ball rolling on the development on the Southside Trail, a structure that will connect the two existing trails. It will be interesting to see the impact the trail has on its surrounding neighborhoods following the Eastside’s success.
