EXOTEC ENTRÉE: BIG MOVE, BIGGER MEANING

Billion-dollar market forces have intersected in Pollock Commercial’s backyard.

When French tech startup Exotec opened its North American headquarters at 200 Ottley Drive in the Armour District of Atlanta, it was more than a big win for the city and its burgeoning tech sector. It’s also the very consequential confluence of the more than $5 billion warehouse robotics industry with Atlanta’s Beltline, which, as of the end of 2020, had spurred over $8.2 billion in private development at a return on investment exceeding 10 to 1.

Pollock Commercial Vice President Michael Dinerman represented the owner in the 19,300-square-foot lease across the street from SweetWater Brewery and just steps from the Beltline, the 22-mile loop of repositioned rail lines that encircle Atlanta’s urban core.

“The three Ls of location, location, location are even more important for a company focused on the other three Ls: logistics, logistics, logistics,” said Dinerman.

Exotec will use the prime space for its robotic picking / vertical racking system and will include a showroom and repair capabilities, a spokesperson told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The company, which is actively working with the Georgia Tech Institute for Robotics and Intelligent Machines to recruit local talent, plans to double its Atlanta workforce to 100 by 2025.

Jeff Pollock said on the “On Leadership with Atlanta Business Chronicle” podcast, “We’ve had so many tech startups that have been born here and expanded. I don’t see that waning, the center for innovation that we’ve become. We have a wonderful business community and something to offer to a very diverse group of people from all different perspectives. I only see positive things to come for Atlanta.”
